Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father's divorce from her family members, she was grew up by her mother godparents, and grandmother. While she was a small girl, she struggled with obsessive-compulsive disorder, and also suffered from anxiety due to the word"association. Ford was interested in the profession of acting in her teens and became a member of the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted into the Sylvia Young Theatre School. After just a month, she decided that it wasn't for her. Ford decided to apply for admission to Central School of Speech and Drama and securing a place at the third time made an application and secured an admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's fellow students. Shaun Dingwall was later to play regular roles in the shows Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford was able to graduate in 1993. She already had her TV debut on a show in 1992 called Surgical Spirit. She adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate appeared in TV programs like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London's Burning during the Nineties. Apart from her regular theatre work, Tate joined with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate gained recognition for her stand-up comedy, which was added to her repertoire in 1996.
