Christopher Peter Meloni (born Christopher Peter Meloni) is an American actor who is best known for his role as the star of the well-known television series Law & Order Special Victims Unit. From his early college days Meloni had a keen interest in acting. After that, he attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. Although he's been active on film and television but it was his character on the small screen that earned him a cult fan following. It is no surprise that he has been able grab the attention of viewers by playing characters on both sides of the law. He played the role of a serial killer in his first television project as well as later portrayed of an NYPD detective. His small-screen performances were rewarded with numerous Emmy Awards nominations and PRISM Awards. He is known by his blue piercing eyes, which have turned into the trademark of his character and has helped him portray tough characters with charisma. People's magazine's 2006 list for Sexiest Men Alive included him.
